Findlay Curtis injury bombshell as worrying Rangers image emerges

Findlay Curtis could be set for an extended period on the sidelines at Rangers after he suffered a crushing injury blow.

The midfielder has had a breakthrough season at Ibrox, making five first-team appearances, including one against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League.

Curtis also marked his full debut for Rangers with an assist in the 2-2 Premiership draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on 13 April.

He would have been hoping to make his Old Firm bow at Ibrox on Sunday (4 May) despite Celtic already clinching the title, but those aspirations appear to have crash-landed.

Curtis spotted on crutches after Glasgow Cup final

Curtis captained Rangers B against Celtic in the Glasgow Cup final at Firhill on Tuesday (29 April), with Barry Ferguson and his coaching staff watching on.

The game was not short of drama, as Neraysho Kasanwirjo made a shock return from injury and marked the occasion by giving the Gers a first-half lead.

With Celtic drawing level in the second period, the match eventually went into penalties and saw Stevie Smith’s side emerge as the winners.

However, the victory came at a cost for Rangers, as they lost three players to injury during the game, resulting in an added time of 16 minutes at the end.

Calum Anderson was the first casualty, while Cameron Scott was stretchered off later after receiving treatment for a head injury for over 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, Curtis was forced off the pitch with only four minutes to 90 with a thigh injury.

The 18-year-old was later spotted using crutches, as Smith and Co. celebrated the cup triumph, although he still appeared to be in a jolly mood.

Curtis may not play for Rangers again this season

While the severity of the injury remains to be seen, the fact that Curtis was forced to use crutches after the game is concerning.

Rangers will be worried if the teenager will be able to feature for the first team again this season.

With the Light Blues on the cusp of an American takeover and a change in managers, these final games offered incoming sporting director Kevin Thelwell to assess the existing players in the squad.

Curtis, though, may miss out on the opportunity to impress, as he now awaits to understand the severity of his injury.
