Michael Stewart in hysterics after Vaclav Cerny claim at Rangers
Michael Stewart couldn’t believe what Alan Hutton said about Rangers and Vaclav Cerny after what’s happened this season.
The Gers dropped two more points against St Mirren in Paisley on Saturday (26 April) as Celtic confirmed their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title.
Barry Ferguson’s time at Ibrox will end soon, and it doesn’t look like the Scotsman’s interim tenure will be extended beyond this season.
The Light Blues now have to plan for the upcoming campaign, and the prospective new owners will have to identify players they want to build the team around.

Cerny the only player Rangers can build team around
Hutton left Stewart in hysterics when he only mentioned Cerny as the player the Gers can build their team around.
The former defender was asked who he’d be willing to keep at the Light Blues after what he’s seen this season, and in a coy response, the Czechia international was the only player mentioned.
Competition (2024/25) | Appearances | Goal(s) | Assist(s) |
Scottish Premiership | 28 | 11 | 2 |
Europa League | 12 | 6 | 2 |
Scottish Cup | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Premier Sports Cup | 4 | 0 | 2 |
Champions League Qualifying | 2 | 0 | 1 |
Stewart apparently couldn’t believe what he was hearing and started laughing, leaving the other panel member also baffled by the answer.
Speaking on the Scottish Football Social Club (28 April, 34:18), Darrell Currie asked: “Of those players at the football club right now that you’ve seen a lot of, European games and domestic games as well, which ones would you be willing to keep and build around?”
Hutton responded: “Cerny.”
49ers Enterprises have no-brainer transfer call at Ibrox
Cerny’s move to Ibrox should be made permanent after what he’s been able to do this season.
The 27-year-old winger signed from Wolfsburg on loan last summer and has become one of the Light Blues’ most pivotal players.
With Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises’ takeover inching closer, the Glaswegian outfit may have the necessary funds to buy the Czechia forward.
It’s been claimed that Cerny’s deal at Rangers includes an option to buy, which the prospective owners should trigger once they arrive.
The Czech national has enjoyed his spell at the Bears so far, and Ferguson or the new manager could definitely make him their talisman for the upcoming campaign.
With a dearth of reliable goal scorers and creative players at Ibrox, it would make complete sense to spend money on the 27-year-old.
If the Glaswegian outfit have aspirations of competing with Celtic again, they’ll evidently need to keep hold of their best players.
