Kris Boyd baffled by Rangers players as Barry Ferguson nears exit

Kris Boyd has slammed Rangers players as another managerial change is potentially on the horizon at Ibrox.

Patrick Stewart appointed Barry Ferguson temporarily until the end of the season after Philippe Clement’s sacking, but it doesn’t look like the Scotsman will become the Gers’ permanent head coach.

The Light Blues dropped more points in the Scottish Premiership as they drew against St Mirren in Paisley on Saturday (26 April) after underwhelming performances from most of the players.

Ferguson arguably isn’t to blame for the Glaswegian outfit’s struggles in the current campaign, but the stars putting on the shirt need to take responsibility.

Rangers players costing managers job at Ibrox

Boyd wonders how many more players at the Gers will cost managers and coaches their jobs.

The former Scotland international is baffled as the Light Blues are set for their fourth permanent head coach in four years, with Ferguson and Steve Davis taking interim charge during that period.

While Ferguson may hope to stay at Ibrox beyond this season, it doesn’t look likely due to the Glaswegian outfit’s underwhelming domestic record in recent matches.

Speaking on the Scottish Sun SPORT (28 April), Boyd said: “I can’t work out for the life of me how many Rangers players are going to cost coaches and managers their job.”

Ferguson to leave after 49ers Enterprises takeover

Gretor Steinsson is leading the charge at Ibrox to appoint a new manager ahead of the upcoming campaign.

There have been several head coaches linked with the hot seat at the Glaswegian outfit, but it remains to be seen who the US consortium will choose as they draw close to their takeover.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have found a breakthrough to buy 51 per cent controlling shares at the Light Blues.

Rangers have several significant decisions to make once the takeover is complete, with changes already being seen in the boardroom.

Kevin Thelwell is set to join the Gers as their new sporting director next summer once he leaves Everton.

The Englishman will arguably be tasked with building a competitive team at the Glaswegian outfit to win trophies again.

Brendan Rodgers has had an impressive spell at Celtic over the years, with the Northern Irish head coach on course to win his third domestic treble.

The Hoops have won four consecutive league titles since Steven Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox before leaving for Aston Villa.

While changes in the hierarchy are expected with the takeover, the Americans must also oversee a squad overhaul at Ibrox.
