John Souttar and Clinton Nsiala blasted after what happened in Rangers footage
Rangers dropped more points against St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership, with John Souttar and Clinton Nsiala struggling.
Barry Ferguson’s team travelled to Paisley on Saturday (26 April) and drew 2-2 against the Saints with the hosts equalising twice.
Cyriel Dessers added to his Scottish Premiership goal tally in the 42nd minute, but Mark O’Hara equalised minutes later.
Nico Raskin restored the Gers’ advantage, but they were unable to hold onto it again as Conor McMenamin scored.

Alan Hutton rages at Souttar and Nsiala as Rangers concede v St Mirren
Souttar and Nsiala were doing nothing as the Light Blues conceded their first goal against St Mirren, Alan Hutton says.
The former Gers defender wasn’t pleased as the Saints scored from a throw-in, with the Glaswegian outfit’s centre-backs being called out for their lack of defending.
Player | Appearances (2024/25) |
Souttar | 36 |
Nsiala | 13 |
Hutton praised O’Hara for his finish, but was expecting more from the Bears’ defensive pairing during the build-up to that strike.
Speaking on the Scottish Football Social Club (28 April), the Scotsman said: “Look at this. A throw-in. You’ve got Nsiala and Souttar basically doing nothing. Nsiala knocks it out. O’Hara great finish.”
Ferguson let down by players at Ibrox
Ferguson isn’t to blame for the struggles at Ibrox, with the players needing to take a long, hard look at themselves.
The interim manager brought much-needed positivity among the supporters when he arrived, but the atmosphere has turned negative again due to the Gers’ recent performances.
While the Light Blues weren’t favourites to win the Europa League, the former Scotland international had the fans dreaming.
Athletic Club shattered those hopes in the quarter-finals of the European competition, arguably ending Ferguson’s chances of staying at Rangers beyond this season.
The Bears have struggled for most of the season, while Celtic clinched their fourth consecutive league title comfortably, as no other team has been able to get near them.
It’s discouraging to see the Gers put in the displays they have domestically this season, which led to Philippe Clement’s sacking.
Whoever the next head coach is, they’ll need a revamped squad that can be relied upon to perform every week, rather than just showing up on European nights.
The recruitment department should consider reinforcing the backline next summer as one of their priorities if the Glaswegian outfit have any hope of being successful.
