Barry Ferguson spotted away from Rangers hours after 49ers arrive at Ibrox

Barry Ferguson has been spotted away from Ibrox just hours after Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers arrived in Glasgow to seal their Rangers takeover.

Rangers have nothing to play for this season after Celtic sealed the Premiership title with a 5-0 win against Dundee United on Saturday, 26 April.

However, Ferguson will still want to come out on top when the Gers host Brendan Rodgers and Co at Ibrox in the last Old Firm derby of the season on Sunday (4 May).

Meanwhile, all eyes are on the impending takeover at Ibrox, which seems to be heading in the right direction after Cavenagh, Jed York and others were spotted in Govan on Tuesday (29 April) afternoon.

Ferguson seen alongside Rodgers days before Old Firm clash

There are doubts over Ferguson’s future as the Rangers manager ahead of the impending takeover by the US consortium involving 49ers Enterprises.

The incoming owners appear to intend to bring in a manager of their own instead of handing the managerial job to the former captain on a permanent basis.

However, the 47-year-old does not seem to be too bothered about claiming the hot seat at Ibrox or the presence of the key members of the takeover in Glasgow, as he was spotted away from Govan.

Rangers to move on from Ferguson

It will not be a surprise if the 49ers decide they want to appoint a big-name manager as the next Rangers boss after coming into power.

Steven Gerrard has been linked with a remarkable return to Ibrox, while Jose Mourinho is said to be open to taking the reins in Govan.

Meanwhile, former Bayern Munich boss Marco Rose has emerged as a shock favourite for the job, leaving Ferguson with little to no chance of getting the job for himself.
