Rangers ready ‘record’ Red Bull deal in shock 49ers development

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are expected to make changes at Rangers, and a lucrative deal with Red Bull is already being lined up.

The US consortium are closing in on their takeover at Ibrox, and fans are anticipating heavy investment from them to turn the dire situation at the Gers.

Outgoing Everton chief Kevin Thelwell is set to join the Light Blues next summer, with the Americans working on rejigging the boardroom.

With the Glaswegian outfit’s financial issues hindering them over the last few years, the prospective new owners could potentially boost the team’s coffers soon.

Red Bull to be new sponsors at Rangers

Red Bull are expected to be the new shirt sponsors at the Bears as the takeover draws close, according to the Scottish Daily Express.

The news outlet reports (27 April) that it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Gers have the energy drink company’s logo on their kits, as they’re major investors in 49ers Enterprises.

One source has claimed that the possible agreement with Red Bull will be a “record commercial deal” for a Scottish Club, and the prospective new owners are willing to buy out any current sponsorship arrangements to make it happen.

The company already sponsors Leeds United, and it appears that Thelwell’s appointment was strategic, given his experience at New York Red Bulls in the MLS.

49ers can revolutionise Ibrox after takeover

Gretor Steinsson may appoint a new manager at Ibrox soon, with the Iceland national tasked with leading the search for a new head coach.

Steven Gerrard has been linked with a return to the Glaswegian outfit, but it remains to be seen whether the Liverpool icon will want to take up a job after some disappointing stints at Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq.

Barry Ferguson may want to stay at Ibrox beyond the current campaign, but dropping more points to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday (26 April) didn’t help his cause.

Rangers have been going through a difficult period for several years now, with just one league title in the last 14 years.

Gerrard was the last manager to lift the Scottish Premiership at the Bears, and since then, every manager has failed to give Celtic a run for their money.

If the US consortium have any ambition of knocking the Hoops off their perch, they’ll need to spend money on squad reinforcement next summer.

With the Red Bull sponsorship deal supposedly bringing in significant money at the Light Blues, supporters will have hopes of competing with their Old Firm rivals.
