Raskin slammed over BBC Sportscene footage in Rangers draw v St Mirren

Rangers are winless in five games across all competitions after being held to a 2-2 draw by St Mirren on Saturday.

Barry Ferguson’s men twice led through Cyriel Dessers and Nico Raskin, but Stephen Robinson’s men found their equaliser on both occasions.

Rangers were knocked out of the Europa League by Athletic Bilbao on 17 April and had hoped to bounce back with a win at St Mirren.

But Ferguson’s side will instead head into the final Old Firm Derby of the campaign in a poor run of form as they look to beat freshly crowned Scottish Premiership champions and fierce rivals Celtic.

Peter Grant hammers Raskin over defending v St Mirren

Just two minutes after Dessers put the Gers 1-0 up, Robinson’s men equalised when Mark O’Hara fired home after a long throw-in.

Peter Grant was disappointed by Raskin’s role in St Mirren’s goal and told BBC Sportscene [26 April]: “Watch Raskin here at the long throw. He just doesn’t pick up his man. Opportunity, goal. Just switches off.”

The Bears have now failed to win since their dramatic 4-3 victory over Dundee on 29 March.

Rangers must enjoy a strong end to the season

The Ibrox giants have endured a poor domestic season, which took another turn for the worse on Saturday when they were held to a 2-2 draw by an inferior St Mirren outfit.

Rangers are in poor form

Ferguson’s men can no longer win silverware this term after being knocked out of the Europa League quarter-finals by La Liga side Bilbao.

The 49ers Enterprises are set to seal their long-awaited takeover of the Ibrox club, and the Gers faithful will hope a better season is in store next season.

Supporters will be eager to see who Rangers’ next permanent manager is, but for now, Ferguson’s side will be looking to enjoy a positive conclusion to an otherwise poor campaign.

The best moment of Ferguson’s time as Gers interim boss so far arrived on 16 March when the Light Blues beat Celtic on away soil with a late 3-2 win.

Rangers will strive to achieve a similar feat when they host Brendan Rodgers’ men at Ibrox next time out on 4 May.
