Rangers new manager: Sources issue huge update with talks held
Rangers have reportedly already begun their quest to hire a new manager once the 49ers Enterprises finalise the takeover.
Barry Ferguson is currently the interim manager but he is not likely to stay for the 2025/26 season.
He was roped in to steady the ship after Philippe Clement failed to deliver the results for the Ibrox outfit.

Gretar Steinsson speaking to managers all across the continent
Gretar Steinsson is understood to be playing a key role in the process of hiring a new manager for Rangers.
He is the technical director at 49ers Enterprises and despite the takeover not being completed yet, work has begun at Gers.
According to the Athletic on 25 April, conversations that have been taking place between Steinsson and the managers are understood to Rangers-related and not Leeds-related.
Despite Ferguson’s commendable interim stint, including victories over Fenerbahce and Celtic, his lack of extensive managerial experience and inconsistent results, such as losses to Motherwell and Hibs, have diminished his prospects.
Steinsson, leveraging his experience as technical director at Leeds and prior roles at Everton and Tottenham, is seeking a seasoned manager to bring stability and success to Ibrox.

Rangers need someone who can take the team to the next level
Rangers need a manager with a proven track record in high-pressure environments, capable of implementing a clear tactical vision and developing young talent to align with the club’s long-term goals.
The ideal candidate should possess experience in top-tier competitions, foster a winning mentality, and restore Ibrox as a fortress, addressing the club’s recent domestic struggles.

With the 49ers’ meticulous recruitment approach, as seen with Daniel Farke’s appointment at Leeds, Gers aim for a transformative leader to elevate their competitiveness in the Scottish Premiership and beyond.
Hopefully, Steinsson can narrow in on the right candidate soon so that once the takeover is finalised they can officially announce the manager as well.
