Rangers news round-up: 49ers hold Europe-wide talks, player told he’s done at Ibrox
Rangers are preparing for Saturday’s trip to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
Barry Ferguson’s men are searching for their first win since their 4-3 away triumph over Dundee on 29 March.
Meanwhile, the 49ers Enterprises’ proposed takeover of the Ibrox club remains in its final stages as the season nears its end.
Ibrox News provides a round-up of all the latest Rangers happenings on Friday, 25 April.

49ers Enterprises hold managerial talks across Europe
While 49ers Enterprises are yet to finalise their Ibrox takeover, 49ers director Gretar Steinsson has been holding talks with managerial candidates across Europe.
Scottish Premiership table (Top two) | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
1 Celtic | 33 | 75 | 81 |
2 Rangers | 33 | 33 | 66 |
The Rangers faithful will be anxious to see who their side’s next permanent boss is, while the Ibrox giants look to close the gap between themselves and fierce rivals Celtic.

Lee Carsley emerges as Rangers candidate
While Steinsson searches for the Ibrox side’s next boss, former England interim manager Lee Carsley has entered the frame.
According to the Daily Record’s Fraser Clarke, Rangers could view Carsley as an appealing option to take the Scottish Premiership giants forward.
The 51-year-old won five of his six games in charge of the Three Lions, beating Ireland 5-0 in his final fixture.
Rangers urged to sell Ridvan Yilmaz
Ridvan Yilmaz’s season is over courtesy of the injury he suffered in the Bears’ Europa League quarter-final defeat to Bilbao.
He has made just 11 Scottish Premiership starts this term, thanks to previous fitness setbacks which caused frustration at Ibrox.
Former BBC presenter Bobby Nwanze has urged Rangers to sell the Turkiye international, who has already missed over 50 fixtures since joining the Bears in 2022.
