Jim White and Simon Jordan slam official Rangers takeover development

Rangers have revealed the latest update in their ongoing takeover development that has left some mixed responses.

The Scottish giants have confirmed that they’re in negotiations with American investors, including the 49ers Enterprises, about taking over the club.

The Light Blues revealed that “productive conversations” are taking place with two leading members of the consortium, with the intention of them acquiring control to inject capital.

That is something that will make fans happy, as the idea of adding some finances to the outfit is exactly what’s needed if they want to close the gap on their Old Firm rivals moving forward.

Rangers statement causes confusion

Rangers’ statement might have been done to try and provide some answers to supporters, but it has left plenty of people baffled and unsure of what direction the takeover is headed.

The 49ers Enterprises are currently enjoying the success of another team that they own in Leeds United, who have just been promoted to the Premier League.

They have full control over the Yorkshire giants following a £170million takeover in 2023, and they are now looking to be heavily involved with Rangers moving forward.

However, Simon Jordan and Jim White were left questioning the latest development during their talkSPORT show.

Jordan said, “I have no idea what that means. What does that mean, long-term ambitions,’ if they don’t get these people in, then their long-term ambitions are going to be slightly different?

“Long-term ambitions or short-term ambitions, their ambitions full stop should be bloody well better than they are, and they’ve been poor for some time.”

Rangers new ownership must make a managerial decision

Rangers fans will be keen to see a takeover happen sooner rather than later to bring an end to this long-running saga that has dragged on for too long in the eyes of many.

It is particularly important due to the fact that Rangers don’t have a permanent manager at the club right now.

Barry Ferguson is currently in charge of the Gers, but only on a temporary basis until the end of the season, which is stopping too much long-term planning from taking place.

Ferguson isn’t expected to be kept on full time after this season, therefore, the new ownership will want to have a say on who ends up replacing him.

Steven Gerrard has emerged as a frontrunner to take on the role, which would see him return to Ibrox, but it will be important for everyone at the club to be on the same page in making that decision.
