Alan Brazil rages over what he heard about new Rangers manager on talkSPORT
Rangers supporters are still none the wiser over who will occupy their dugout for the kick-off to the 2025-26 Scottish Premiership season.
One thing is for sure, it’s a season for which everyone will hope the boardroom is in a much healthier condition, namely with the eagerly anticipated US takeover which Rangers hope will be formally announced by this summer.
An incoming regime are likely to have a list of potential candidates to officially succeed Philippe Clement, after Barry Ferguson had taken Gers to the Europa League quarter-finals as interim boss and will see out this term in charge.

Alan Brazil scoffs at suggestion as Ferguson defended
Ferguson has certainly done his CV no harm as the former Rangers captain came back in to take the reins at Ibrox this season.
There have been some sketchy days – particularly on home turf – which Gers fans want to see the back of, but there have also been some memorable times which in fairness to Clement, the Belgian also succeeded in offering. Just far too sporadically.
Live on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning (23 April, 09:35), Brazil argued at one suggestion lined up for the job, a manager who Ferguson now knows increasing well.
While on the same channel the previous night, European football broadcaster Kevin Hatchard claimed Jose Mourinho could be a potential candidate for Ibrox.
Brazil rubbished the idea of Fenerbahce boss Mourinho making the move to Govan to become Clement’s long-term replacement, and defended Ferguson’s stint back in the building.
“Many managers are now linked with the job. Why not give it to Barry, he’s done a good job?,” Brazil said.
“European expert Kevin Hatchard joined the Sports Bar last night and linked a certain – don’t be silly, Kev! -… ‘Special One’ [Mourinho] to the job.”
Mourinho has often been transparent he could leave Fenerbahce in the near future, but would cost a considerable amount to even get off the ground for the incoming Rangers ownership.

Rangers will look to have new boss in place quickly
With the European romance over for another season and domestic action redundant for Rangers for a long time already, fans are solely focused on the progress of the US takeover.
The American consortium will look to make a significant impression with added investment as they look to take a 51 per cent controlling stake in the Light Blues, and will have their own managerial ideas.
Ferguson is likely to hold conversations with the ownership, but the hope is that an appointment can be made before the squad return for pre-season; Kevin Thelwell has been confirmed as the new sporting director in a switch from Everton.

A significant transfer overhaul is also likely to take place, with the recruitment staff currently led by Nils Koppen keen to discover what degree of funding they will be operating with.
Koppen, however, could himself be on his way out of Ibrox with a reshuffle already on the go as Thelwell is brought in.
