Sean Dyche appointment mooted at Rangers as ‘remarkable’ verdict emerges

Sean Dyche could be in line to take over at Rangers as the search for a new head coach continues.

The Gers have been without a permanent head coach since the departure of Philippe Clement after a dreadful campaign for the Belgian.

This saw Barry Ferguson be handed the chance to manage the Light Blues on an interim basis until the end of the season at Ibrox.

After a mixed bag of a spell in charge, the 47-year-old could be in line to be replaced by Dyche when the transfer window opens in Govan.

Dyche could become next Rangers manager

There is bound to be a whole host of names linked with a move to G51 ahead of the new campaign as a new manager is sought out.

After being dumped out of the Europa League by Athletic Bilbao, there is very little to play for across the remainder of the year for the Light Blues.

Now, supporters will await a takeover by Paraag Marathe and the 49ers, which could spark a change of face in the Ibrox dugout.

Despite the positivity that Ferguson has brought to the role, the experience and nous of Dyche could prove to be an excellent option moving forward.

The Englishman was most recently sacked by Everton despite operating above his side’s means in the Premier League, echoing his successes at Burnley to an extent.

It is the positivity of his spell with the Clarets that Ally McCoist has been encouraged by ahead of a potential move to Govan.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 23 April (09:36am), he said: “I’d take Sean [Dyche at Rangers] all day. I think Sean Dyche is an excellent manager, excellent. His work at Burnley was nothing short of remarkable.”

Dyche could transform Rangers

Although the 53-year-old may not have a glamorous name like a Jose Mourinho, there is no doubt that he would be effective in the Scottish Premiership.

Constant questions have been asked of the Gers in recent years as they continue to underperform in games against so-called worse opponents.

This has come despite putting in much better performances against top sides, particularly in the Europa League.

Dyche would likely end this sort of inconsistency and make the Light Blues a stern opponent for a whole range of sides.

It will be interesting to see if the former Burnley boss would welcome a move to Ibrox and what that would mean for Ferguson at the helm.
