Ferguson axes Hagi in three changes – Rangers predicted XI v St Mirren

Rangers are fighting for pride as the season comes to a close.

Barry Ferguson‘s side were knocked out of the Europa League by Athletic Bilbao (17 April) which means that are not able to win silverware this season.

Many supporters will just want the current campaign to conclude but the Gers have to finish it strongly to take momentum into next season.

Ferguson to make three changes for St Mirren clash

Ferguson have several injury issues to deal with for the clash at the SMISA Stadium on 26 April with up to six players set to miss the trip.

Between the sticks, Liam Kelly is expected to continue as Jack Butland remains dropped after making several mistakes.

Ferguson is predicted to stick with a back five, with Robin Propper, John Souttar and Clinton Nsiala protecting Kelly’s goal with doubts over the fitness of Rafael Fernandes and Neraysho Kasanwirjo ruled out.

James Tavenier might feature in a more familiar role on the right side of defence as Dujon Sterling is injured, with Jefte occupying his usual position on the left due to doubts over Ridvan Yilmaz’s fitness.

The midfield is expected to be unchanged from the loss to Bilbao, with Mohamed Diomande and Nicolas Raskin maintaining their places in the starting line-up.

Cyriel Dessers might retain his spot to lead the line as he has been a trusted lieutenant of Ferguson since he took over on an interim basis.

Meanwhile, Hamza Igamane is expected to replace Ianis Hagi on the left side of the attack after featruing from the bench against the Spanish outfit.

Tom Lawrence is another doubt but Oscar Cortes should be available to potentially make an impact from the bench.

The match does not have serious implications for the Light Blues in terms of the league table, as they are 15 points behind Celtic but several players are fighting for their future at Ibrox.
