Dubai-based expert wants to join Rangers in huge takeover twist
Andy Mason has played an important role in brokering the takeover talks between Rangers and the San Francisco 49ers.
The Dubai-based Scottish property and finance expert was the one who first introduced the deal to the prospective American owners.
Currently, Gers are locked in talks with the investment arm of the 49ers, over a 51 per cent stake in the club.

Mason keen on joining the Ibrox outfit post the takeover
Mason is a former season ticket holder at Gers and believes that the takeover is something that should excite the fans.
In his view, this has given the Ibrox outfit the chance to start anew with substantial financial backing from the Americans.
He’s also hinted at the 49ers bringing game-changing concepts to Gers that will help shape their future and make them a success on and off the pitch.
Mason told the Mail: “It’s a hugely exciting time to be a Rangers fan right now and, like everyone else, I’m keen to see what the future looks like as and when the deal goes through.
“The expertise that the 49ers could bring to the table could be game-changing. From a business perspective, to be able to tap into that is gold dust.
“I think you will probably see a major shake-up behind the scenes at Rangers over the coming months.”

Discussing if he’d be open to joining Rangers, he responded: “Yeah, of course I would be.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy doing what I do here in Dubai. I have a good life out here and enjoy what I do.
“It’s not just a case of jumping at it because it’s Rangers. It’s a case of feeling like I could go in there and make a genuine difference on the business side of things.”

Rangers may benefit by bringing Mason on board
Mason’s involvement with Rangers post-takeover could be transformative, leveraging his financial expertise and global connections to revitalise the club’s off-field operations.
As a Scottish property and finance expert based in Dubai, Mason’s role in brokering the 49ers Enterprises takeover talks demonstrates his ability to connect high-calibre investors, ensuring Gers secure significant financial backing.
His extensive commercial experience across Scotland, the US, and the Middle East positions him to unlock new revenue streams, such as innovative sponsorship deals, enhancing the club’s financial stability.
Mason’s outsider perspective could break the cycle of recycled football executives, bringing fresh strategies to modernise Ibrox’s business operations, from merchandising to fan engagement, as inspired by the 49ers’ expertise.
His passion as a former season-ticket holder ensures alignment with Gers’ ethos, while his willingness to take on a role, potentially as chief commercial officer or similar, promises a major behind-the-scenes shake-up.
By prioritising off-pitch innovation, Mason could lay a robust foundation for on-pitch success, making the Ibrox outfit competitive against Celtic and beyond.
