Steven Gerrard ‘to be next Rangers manager’ in shocking Ibrox claim
Rangers may look to hire Steven Gerrard when they replace Barry Ferguson at Ibrox at the end of the season.
The former Scotland international was appointed interim head coach after Philippe Clement was sacked, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
Prospective new Gers owners Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have the Liverpool icon on their radar ahead of their takeover.
While many fans would like to see Ferguson continue at Ibrox, it appears that the Light Blues are set for a managerial overhaul soon.

Rangers to appoint Gerrard as Ferguson exit nears
Gerrard’s going to be the next permanent manager at the Glaswegian outfit, Mark Guidi says.
The Scottish journalist feels the former Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq boss will return to Ibrox next summer.

Guidi acknowledges that there’s a split among the Gers’ supporters, with many not wanting the former Liverpool midfielder’s appointment at the Glaswegian outfit.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (21 April), the journalist said: “Something just tells me it’s going to be Gerrard. He’s going to be the next manager of Rangers. I know a lot of fans are quite excited about that prospect, but a lot of them are saying he’s had his time, he delivered 55, maybe not best to go back.”
Gerrard appointment needed at Ibrox
Gerrard seems like the best man to take the reins at Ibrox, with the Glaswegian outfit’s prospects going downhill ever since his departure.
The ex-England international can’t be blamed for taking a lucrative job at Villa after a successful stint with the Gers, albeit his tenure at the Birmingham club was a bust.
Even in Saudi Arabia, the Liverpool icon was unable to repair his managerial reputation, eventually leaving Al-Ettifaq midway through this season.
Rangers need someone like Gerrard back, despite his stock deteriorating since leaving Ibrox.
The 44-year-old clinched the 55th league title at the Gers, breaking a 10-year drought.
Before the ex-midfielder’s eventual departure, the Light Blues were in a comfortable position in the Scottish Premiership table, before dropping to second after Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s arrival.
Gerrard’s record against Celtic was impressive as well, winning seven of his 12 Old Firm derbies in charge of the Bears.
The Englishman has demonstrated his managerial nous at the Glaswegian outfit once and possesses the qualities to do it again, but the situation at Ibrox is one to keep an eye on, with the takeover nearing completion.
