Rangers ‘to sell James Tavernier and five others’ in ruthless Ibrox exodus
Rangers have a massive transfer window coming up, with James Tavernier and five other players potentially on the chopping block.
Barry Ferguson was appointed interim manager at Ibrox after Philippe Clement’s departure, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have gotten a breakthrough in their takeover bid at the Gers, which may lead to several changes at the Glaswegian outfit soon.
Tavernier’s future has been up in the air at Ibrox this season after a deterioration in his performances, and the right-back could possibly leave the Light Blues next summer.

Tavernier exit on cards in ruthless Rangers transfer claim
Tavernier and the futures of five other defenders need to be assessed in the upcoming transfer window, Mark Guidi says.
The Scottish journalist speculated whether the Gers need to cash in on Jack Butland next summer, with Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz’s quality also questioned.
Guidi also wondered about Leon Balogun’s future, but feels Robin Propper and Tavernier should leave the Light Blues in the coming months.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (21 April), the journalist said: “Whoever gets the job, whether it’s Ferguson or someone else, they need to gut the place and be ruthless. Look at your back four and your goalkeeper.
“You’ve got to ask yourself, is it worth trying to cash in on Butland during the summer? Is he worth the high wages?
“Are you going to win a title with Jefte? No. Yilmaz can play right-back and left-back, but his attendance record is poor. Balogun is another year older. Depends on what he’s looking for. Propper, need to get him out the door. Tavernier, I think his time has come and gone.”
Ibrox needs significant transfer window to compete with Celtic
Ferguson may have realised at Ibrox that the current Gers’ squad lacks a lot of quality after what’s happened this season.
While the Light Blues have turned up in the Europa League, their domestic record in the current campaign has been worrying.
The Ibrox faithful have rightfully lost faith in the hierarchy at the Bears, and the prospective new owners can’t arrive quicker.
Celtic have dominated Rangers for several years now, and it doesn’t appear that this trend is likely to change anytime soon, unless the takeover leads to drastic changes at the Gers.
John Souttar has been the only defender who’s shown impressive qualities at the Light Blues this season, but the Scotsman has been injury-prone.
Tavernier, Balogun, Propper, Jefte and Yilmaz have been underwhelming in the current campaign, and the Bears must reinforce their backline next summer.
While it’s unlikely that the Glaswegian outfit will sell most of their defenders in the coming months, they must make significant changes in that department.
