Rangers takeover bombshell: Announcement revealed as Chris Jack drops update
Chris Jack has provided the latest update on the impending takeover of Rangers by Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe.
Sky Sports reported early in March that a US consortium involving 49ers Enterprises has reached an agreement to acquire a 51 per cent stake in Rangers.
However, updates regarding the proposed takeover have dried down in recent weeks, with some raising concerns over Marathe’s involvement at Leeds United.
There have been suggestions that Leeds potentially failing to secure promotion and staying in the EFL, whose rules prevent owners from being involved in the administration of other clubs, could jeopardise the deal.

Cavenagh and Marathe find breakthrough at Ibrox
However, Marathe’s involvement at Leeds does not have any impact on the takeover at Rangers, according to Chris Jack.
Providing the latest on the proposed deal, the journalist reported via the Rangers Review website on Sunday (20 April) that Cavenagh and Marathe have unlocked a route to push through with the agreement.
With the two key figures finding a way to acquire a 51 per cent stake at Ibrox, the much-awaited takeover is now edging closer to completion.
Cavenagh, who has been a regular at Rangers’ recent games, has been in talks with key shareholders since October to reach an agreement over a deal.
Those discussions are heading towards a positive conclusion, with the legalities of the agreement being ironed out ahead of a handover of power.
However, the announcement of the takeover is still a few weeks away.

49ers on course for Rangers takeover
Any claims of the takeover hitting a snag are said to be wide of the mark.
There have been suggestions that Sandy Easdale has a decisive say in the deal, but the US consortium no longer needs his 2.25 per cent share to move forward with it.
