Steven Naismith issues ‘100%’ reaction as Rangers takeover twist emerges
Steven Naismith has reacted to recent developments surrounding the Rangers takeover.
The San Francisco 49ers are keen on finalising the deal within the coming weeks, but nothing has been rubber-stamped yet.
It’s also understood that the Americans are feeling the Gers directors difficult to deal with in conversations surrounding the takeover.

Naismith issues verdict on new manager at Rangers
Naismith is of the view that the new owners will already be in the process of hiring a permanent manager.
He’s also given his verdict on the other changes that he would like to see at the Light Blues once the takeover is finalised.
Naismith told Sportsound: “Like everything in football, if this takeover is at the point of, yes, it’s a foregone conclusion, then 100% they’ll already be in the process of looking at one (new manager), what are we wanting as a club? Is it, are we want a specific style of play?
“And if we do want that, then they’ll be having discussions as we speak to work out who’s a potential manager or head coach that they think they can get and who’s realistic. On top of that, they then conversations will follow into recruitment and, right, we’re playing this style, so I need two wingers or I need three centre-halves.
“They’re all conversations that probably are coming in the background if this takeover is that far down. The people that unfortunately are last to hear about this are the fans because when it can all be done officially is whenever it is concreted and sorted.”

49ers must ensure Ibrox faithful are prioritised during the takeover
To calm Gers fans and inspire confidence post-takeover, 49ers Enterprises must adopt a transparent, strategic approach, addressing the concerns highlighted by Naismith’s comments on the ongoing managerial and recruitment discussions.
They should hold a fan forum, led by Paraag Marathe and Andrew Cavenagh, within weeks of the takeover’s completion, to outline their vision, emphasising financial stability and competitive goals, such as closing the gap to Celtic.

Appointing a permanent manager should be prioritised, with a clear explanation of the chosen candidate’s alignment with a defined playing style, like high-pressing, possession-based football.
Fans need reassurance that recruitment will be methodical, focusing on quality signings rather than reckless spending.
Off-field plans, including community investment and commercial growth, should be detailed to show long-term commitment.
Regular updates via CEO Patrick Stewart’s forum and clear communication about navigating SFA dual-ownership rules will build trust, ensuring fans feel included in Rangers’ new era.
