Rangers takeover could now be ditched amid ‘remarkable Ibrox plot twist’
Rangers supporters will be hoping for brighter days with the impending 49ers takeover.
The Enterprises Group of the San Francisco 49ers NFL franchise, led by Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe and Andrew Cavenagh, have agreed a deal in principle to purchase a stake in the Ibrox outfit.
However, the proposed deal has hit a snag and could be ditched after details of a sensational twist emerged from Govan.

Rangers takeover plunged into doubt after new 49ers developments
Rangers have been in negotiations with the 49ers since October and the deal had looked set to be finalised in the summer, with just formalities to be undertaken.
However, a report from the Daily Mail (17 April) claims that the investors are frustrated with how long it is taking to complete the deal.
It states that the US consortium could walk away if a deal is not reached soon and controversial former Gers director Sandy Easdale could be the key to completing the takeover in a “remarkable plot twist.”

49ers takeover is much needed at Rangers
The takeover is desperately needed as the Auchenhowie outfit are lagging behind arch-rivals Celtic both on and off the pitch at the moment.
Brendan Rodgers‘ side has the advantage in the transfer market and in the Scottish Premiership, as they are 15 points ahead of the Gers and look set to wrap up a fourth consecutive league title.
Scottish Premiership | Played | GD | Points |
1. Celtic | 33 | +75 | 81 |
2. Rangers | 33 | +33 | 66 |
The Bears famous stadium, Ibrox, also needs to be redeveloped amid growing concerns over some parts of the stadium.
The financial might and the commercial knowledge that the 49ers would bring will be absolutely crucial to bridging that gap quickly, rather than relying on the current regime to do so.
Perhaps even more importantly, the takeover would end the years of shareholder infighting that have severely hampered the Light Blues.
The deal had looked in jeopardy due to Leeds’ position in the Championship but the Whites have rebounded and look set to be in the Premier League next season, so that issue has gone away.
However, there is now a new issue, that can hopefully be put to bed and allow the Gers supporters to dream of better days.
