Igamane transfer update causes disbelief as Tottenham circle for Rangers star

Rangers could potentially cash in on Hamza Igamane as Tottenham eye a move ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The Morocco international is having a breakout season at the Gers after signing from AS FAR last summer.

Igamane was relatively unknown before his move to Ibrox, but now the 22-year-old is attracting interest from teams down south.

The centre-forward, who recently scored a late winner for the Light Blues against Celtic at Parkhead, is valued at £20million [TEAMtalk], with the likes of Tottenham and Everton eyeing him.

Rangers won’t get £20m for Igamane amid Tottenham and Everton interest

Igamane isn’t worth £20m at the Glaswegian outfit ahead of next summer, Richard Foster says.

The former Scottish defender believes the Moroccan ace could potentially be worth the aforementioned fee if he scores a significant number of goals next season.

Foster feels that despite the 22-year-old’s apparent potential, teams like Tottenham and Everton won’t be convinced about spending £20m on him just yet.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (15 April), the former Aberdeen star said: “I’m not sure where that figure comes from. [Igamane] is young, a good player and talented. There are times when he comes onto the pitch and looks disinterested.

“You see the teams there, Leverkusen, Tottenham and Everton, not sure they’d be willing to pay £20m for Igamane yet. I think if you have a really good next season and score 25 to 30 goals, then you can talk about £20m. But at the moment, I don’t see that.”

Barry Ferguson doesn’t trust Iagamane at Ibrox

Igamane’s game time at Ibrox has dipped since Barry Ferguson replaced Philippe Clement in the dugout.

The interim manager has relied on Cyriel Dessers as his first-choice number nine, with the Nigerian ace pipping the former AS FAR youngster in the pecking order.

While the 22-year-old centre-forward started for the Gers when they faced Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the 2-2 draw, whether he retains his place against Athletic Bilbao remains to be seen.

Rangers will need to be at their best to beat the La Liga outfit in the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday (17 April), with the tie level after the draw in the first leg at Ibrox.

The European competition is the Light Blues’ only hope of remaining competitive until the end of the season, with Celtic all but confirmed as winners in the Scottish Premiership.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Ferguson drop Igamane for Dessers, but the former Cremonese star has also been a frustrating figure at the Glaswegian outfit due to his poor finishing.

While the Morocco international has gained more prominence since debuting for his national side recently, the £20m figure seems a bit too optimistic.

The sensible thing would be to keep the 22-year-old striker at Ibrox for another season and help his development before sanctioning an exit for a potentially hefty fee in 2026.
