Rangers ‘want new Ianis Hagi contract’ after terrific new BBC footage
Ianis Hagi showed his class on Sunday afternoon when he rescued a late point for Rangers in the 2-2 draw at Aberdeen.
The Gers were seemingly on course for their second consecutive Scottish Premiership defeat when Leighton Clarkson and Pape Gueye scored either side of Ross McCausland’s red card at Pittodrie.
But Barry Ferguson’s side dug deep to come back from behind and salvaged a point thanks to Hamza Igamane’s goal and Hagi’s edge-of-the-box curler.
The Bears will now turn their attention back to their Europa League quarter-final tie with La Liga highfliers Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.

Hagi contract developments emerge at Ibrox
Hagi is currently set to leave Ibrox at the end of the season when his current deal comes to an end.
Speaking on BBC Sportscene on 13 April, Callum Davidson shared his thoughts on the playmaker after re-watching footage of his goal at Pittodrie: “His attitude’s terrific.
“He’s a wide player with a lot of technical qualities, but he’s working very hard for the team. I think Rangers, he’s a cracking player, they’ll definitely want him to stay.”

Rangers should want Hagi to stay
Davidson’s comments on Hagi are spot on, as he has been a real asset for Ferguson’s side this season, notching three goals and five assists in 23 Scottish Premiership outings.

Goals | 4 |
Assists | 5 |
Therefore, the Light Blues should want to extend the 26-year-old’s current stay in Glasgow, instead getting rid of the deadwood around him.
Furthermore, as alluded to by Davidson, the wideman is a hardworking individual who proved his determination when he scored a stunning late equaliser for the Gers despite the fact that his side had been reduced to 10 men.
He also showed his selfless nature when he constantly tracked back to defend against Bilbao in the Europa League quarter-final first leg at Ibrox on 10 April after centre-back Robin Propper was shown a red card.
Without Hagi’s efforts, Rangers may not have been able to hold Ernesto Valverde’s men to a 0-0 draw after Propper was sent off.
The Bears will need Hagi at his very best on Thursday when they clash with the La Liga outfit once more, while the Romanian could increase his chances of earning a new contract if he can emerge as a hero in the Basque country.
The likes of Nedim Bajrami and Ross McCausland proved they should be looking over their shoulders with embarrassing displays at Aberdeen, not Hagi.
