Steven Thompson cannot believe footage of Rangers controversy v Aberdeen
Steven Thompson was left in disbelief at Ross McCausland, as Rangers battled to a 2-2 draw after his red card at Aberdeen.
It was a first half to forget for the Gers on Sunday (13 April) as they went in two goals down against the Dons after a terrible 45-minute display.
Goals from Leighton Clarkson and Pape Habib Gueye appeared to push the game away from the visitors, either side of McCausland being sent off for two yellow cards.
Barry Ferguson got stuck into his side at the break, and it worked as Hamza Igamane and Ianis Hagi rescued a point for the 10-man Rangers.

McCausland struggled dramatically throughout the game as he couldn’t make the impact he’d hoped for, making numerous fouls as his final ball failed consistently.
The wide man was already on a yellow card when he decided to dive into another challenge, and after failing to get the ball, there was no choice but to award him a second yellow card.
Stats | McCausland |
Total Shots | 1 |
Accurate Passes | 11/16 (69%) |
Touches | 37 |
Successful Dribbles | 2/4 (50%) |
The Rangers star was sent for an early shower, leaving his teammates with plenty of work to do, and Thompson was left shocked by what he saw.
Speaking live on BBC Sportsound [13 April, 12:41], he said: “Can you actually believe he’s gone into that challenge? On a yellow card, what is he thinking about?
“It’s a yellow card all day long.”

Barry Ferguson needs a miracle to get full-time job
Rangers managed to fight back into the game in the second half to rescue a point, as the Gers started the second half positively with Igamane finding the back of the net to give his teammates some hope and something to fight for.
They continued to do exactly that right until the end when Hagi scored a 96th-minute equaliser to salvage something from the game, despite a dreadful first-half performance.
Ferguson is aiming to win over the impending new American owners to try and stake a claim to be the permanent Rangers manager after this season, when his current interim contract will expire.
Other names have already been linked to the role such as Steven Gerrard and Jose Mourinho, therefore, Ferguson must deliver high-quality performances and results between now and the end of the season to stand any chance of being kept on.
