‘Barry Ferguson makes Cyriel Dessers error’ – Rangers confirmed XI v Aberdeen

Barry Ferguson has made nine changes to his Rangers side as they face Aberdeen in a return to Scottish Premiership action on Sunday.

The Gers will be keen to secure a league win just days after their hard-fought draw against Athletic Club in the Europa League on Thursday (10 April).

The Light Blues drew 0-0 with the La Liga outfit last time out, despite a red card for Robin Propper after just 13 minutes on the clock at Ibrox.

It is fair to say that the Dons represent a different sort of opponent, with Jimmy Thelin’s side sitting fifth in the table.

As a result, it is little surprise that Ferguson has opted to make a whole host of changes, but he may live to regret not starting with Cyriel Dessers.

Ferguson gets Dessers decision wrong for Rangers v Aberdeen

Although there is little to play for in the Scottish Premiership, this will act as a positive test run for the clash against Athletic Club on Thursday (17 April).

With that being said, keeping the side fresh could prove to be a wise move after such a difficult night for the Light Blues against the Spanish outfit.

This has seen the likes of Vaclav Cerny, James Tavernier and Ianis Hagi drop out for a much-needed rest, with Ross McCausland, Danilo, Hamza Igamane and Oscar Cortes coming in from the start with the hope of having a positive impact.

These changes have seen Dessers drop out of the starting 11, which could prove to be a mistake after a positive run of minutes under Ferguson.

Ferguson goes all out attack v Aberdeen

There is no holding back from the interim head coach for the trip to Pittodrie as six attackers have been named in the starting XI.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the likes of Clinton Nsiala and Rafael Fernandes will be able to deal with the lack of support in front of them.

With that being said, there is enough quality in forward areas that should be able to get past the Dons through sheer forward quality.

It will certainly be interesting to see how this influences the performance against Thelin’s side, but the absence of Dessers could have more of an impact than many would give him credit for.
