Rangers takeover: Chris Jack reveals current-day situation on 49ers deal
Rangers are in the midst of a takeover saga with NFL giants San Francisco 49ers keen on acquiring a majority stake.
A lot of parties are involved with the deal and there are understood to be certain difficulties in getting things over the line.
Frustrations have emerged behind the scenes at Ibrox over the time taken to get this done.
49ers takeover appears to be near the end
Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack has issued an update on the current-day scenario surrounding the takeover.
He claims that the American giants are nearing the end of the takeover saga and it’s down to the lawyers now working on the contracts.
Things still haven’t been signed but everything is being worked on towards achieving that.
He said on 10 April “We are ticking towards the end of this one, thankfully.
Shareholder | Stake |
Dave King | 12.96% |
Douglas Park | 11.54% |
George Taylor | 10.22% |
Stuart Gibson | 9.53% |
Julian Wolhardt | 9.53% |
John Halsted | 9.53% |
John Bennett | 7.11% |
“Things haven’t been signed. It’s with the lawyers across all the various parties.
“There’s a lot of moving parts to this. A lot of deals have to be agreed and they have to be done.
“It’s in the stage of it will be go through the various legal teams and eventually it will get done but don’t expect to hear blow-by-blow updates and accounts, but still very much on track.”
Jack has rightly explained that there will not be too many updates as it’s a complex thing
The deal is on track and that’s precisely what should be the case at this stage of the deal.
Claims of things not being on track are absolutely untrue, at this stage.
Rangers directors likely examining the terms of the deal
Takeovers are always complicated scenarios, especially given how fragmented Gers’ ownership structure is.
Dave King has agreed to sell his stake and a lot of the directors at Gers have also decided to do the same.
However, no money has exchanged hands and the dynamics of the boardroom has not yet changed.
