Danilo transfer: Rangers ‘to sanction exit’ after surprise verdict
Danilo has had a torrid time at Rangers due to consistent fitness issues since his big-money transfer from Feyenoord a few years back.
The Gers spent around £6million to sign the 26-year-old in 2023, but he’s been unable to live up to that price tag.
Danilo’s injuries at Ibrox have been frustrating for fans, and they arguably wouldn’t mind seeing the Brazilian striker leave in the coming months.
The centre-forward has hardly featured for the Light Blues in recent weeks and was left on the bench as Athletic Bilbao drew 0-0 in the Europa League on their trip to Glasgow.

Rangers to take what they can for Danilo in summer transfer window
Danilo may leave the Bears when the upcoming transfer window opens, Jonny McFarlane says.
The Scottish journalist believes the Brazilian ace doesn’t look suited to playing in the conditions that the Scottish game presents.
Competition (2024/25) | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Scottish Premiership | 18 | 5 | 4 |
McFarlane would be surprised to see the 26-year-old turn things around at Ibrox and feels it would be best for the Gers to sell him in the coming months.
The journalist wrote in the Rangers Review (11 April): “Everything is easy in hindsight. But it’s yet another player brought in that doesn’t look suited to the robust nature of the Scottish game. And that doesn’t always have to be in football terms. The inclement weather, bad pitches and lenient refereeing culture combine to create a unique physical challenge.
“At this point, I’d be surprised if Danilo ever meets it. The summer is the time to take whatever value can be drummed up on the open market.”

49ers Enterprises will need to invest in attacking reinforcements at Ibrox
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are close to completing their takeover of the Glaswegian outfit before the end of the season.
The US consortium looking to buy controlling shares at the Light Blues will need to make several key decisions once they arrive, and squad planning will be one of them.
Danilo has struggled for regular game time at the Gers, partly due to injuries, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave for pastures new soon.
Rangers have seen Hamza Igamane’s rise in the current campaign, but the Morocco international has struggled for form recently.
Cyriel Dessers has been Barry Ferguson’s first-choice number nine since being appointed interim manager, but the Nigerian forward is a frustrating character due to his profligacy.
The Bears could potentially see all three strikers attract interest from elsewhere next summer for different reasons, and the prospective new owners may be left with a lack of depth up front.
Cavenagh and the 49ers will need to invest heavily and reinforce their squad in the upcoming transfer window to build a squad capable of beating Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title.
