Rangers transfers: Greg Taylor approach on cards after ‘Shock’ development

Rangers have been linked with a surprising move for Celtic defender Greg Taylor this summer.

The Scotland international’s deal at Parkhead runs out at the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the left-back will be leaving the Hoops when his deal expires.

Kris Boyd and Michael Stewart back Taylor’s transfer

Dinamo Zagreb, who were favourites to sign him, made the “shock” decision to sack their manager Fabio Cannavaro and that could see them cooling their interest in the 27-year-old, per the Sun.

Kris Boyd believes that he would be an upgrade on the current left-back options at Rangers – Jefte and Ridvan YIlmaz.

Michael Stewart, too, believes that signing the Scotland international would be a good move for the Ibrox outfit.

Rangers are in a patchy run of form.

While Zagreb have hired Cannavaro’s replacement, there are no indicators if they want to continue or pull out of the pursuit of Taylor.

Thus far, Gers have not made an approach for the Scotland international and he’s not signed a pre-contract agreement with anyone.

It is also unclear if the 27-year-old wants to return to the club he spent his formative years at, given the rivalry between the two clubs.

Rangers can now make approach and lead race to sign Taylor

Once the San Francisco 49ers become the owners, Gers

With the 49ers’ takeover nearing completion by late April, they could make Taylor their first target at Ibrox.

It would be a sensible move as well given the dearth of quality left-backs at Gers.

Jefte himself has been linked with a move to the Premier League and he could part ways with the Light Blues this summer.
