McCoist in hysterics after what Agbonlahor told him about Sutton and Rangers

Rangers have fallen significantly behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership this season with 13 points separating the sides in the table.

It has been a disastrous season at Ibrox with Barry Ferguson now leading on an interim basis until the end of the season.

A 2-0 loss against Hibernian on Saturday (5 April) showed there is plenty of work to be done in Glasgow, with Ferguson seeing how much he can change before the end of the campaign.

McCoist left in stitches after Sutton comments

Rangers’ loss to Hibernian was a major concern as it marked five consecutive losses at Ibrox for the Gers.

When they are preparing to face Athletic Bilbao at home in Europa League action on Thursday (10 April), this is certainly not the form Rangers want to be in heading into the game.

What’s more, Jack Butland has continued his poor form for the Light Blues which has led to further doubt over whether he is worthy of a place in the side in such a big tie.

The issues at Rangers represent just how much there is to be sorted at Ibrox before the Bears can start looking towards more success.

With that in mind, it’s fair to say that Celtic have certainly come off looking the better this term.

That being said, a 1-0 loss away at bottom-of-the-league St Johnstone on Sunday (9 April) certainly reminded the Light Blues that they can still laugh about their opponents.

This was the case for Ally McCoist, who was left in hysterics when Gabby Agbonlahor told him on talkSPORT (9 April, 8:08am): “You know what’s funny, though? Chris Sutton on X.

“He couldn’t wait to say something about ‘Baz ball’ after Rangers lost and then Celtic lose the next day and he’s like ‘oh it’s a great performance from St Johnstone.'”

Rangers looking to compete with Celtic again

Rangers supporters will be wary about getting too far ahead of themselves but with the 49ers Enterprises looking to complete a takeover deal at Ibrox, this could change everything for the Light Blues.

Although Ferguson has been mooted as a permanent appointment by some, it is likely that the new owners will be keen to bring in their own managerial appointment with the necessary experience to take the Gers forward.

Furthermore, the 49ers are likely to have a bigger budget that can be spent on bringing new faces in and making Rangers a more sustainable asset going forward.

The key aim at Ibrox will be to get back towards the top of the Scottish Premiership and compete properly with their rivals for trophies.

It may feel like a long way off after a season that has left many in Light Blue fatigued but comments like those from Sutton should remind supporters that there should be plenty of biting back to come in the times ahead.
