Rangers rebuild update emerges as several players set for exit

Rangers will reportedly have a number of players parting ways with the club in the summer transfer window.

The Ibrox outfit are set to be taken over by the San Francisco 49ers in the coming weeks, right in time for the transfer market.

The NFL giants are keen on a rebuild to help Gers bridge the gap with rivals Celtic.

Rangers rebuild talks have already begun

It’s understood that big money is not planned to be thrown on any new signings this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

However, that will not stop several players from securing exits from Ibrox, either on a permanent or temporary basis.

Talks over a rebuild have already begun and it may take a few windows to build a solid foundation for long-term success.

This season, the Ibrox outfit are once again set to miss out on the league title to cross-town rivals Celtic.

While the SPFL title is not mathematically theirs, there is now a 16-point gap between the two teams – courtesy of Gers’ 2-0 loss to Hibs at home.

James Tavernier could be in his final season at Ibrox

While names of the players on their way out have not been disclosed, it’s understood that James Tavernier is among those who could be shown the door.

Selling Tavernier could be a smart move for Rangers due to his age, declining performance and the Ibrox outfit’s need for change.

At 33, the captain’s athletic peak is behind him and his defensive weaknesses have been increasingly exposed.

With his contract expiring in 2026, this summer offers Rangers a final chance to secure a decent fee—potentially £2million, for their £220k signing.

Cashing in could fund a younger and defensively solid replacement, aligning with a refreshed, competitive squad vision.

The 49ers have to make such sweeping moves if they are to take the Ibrox outfit to the next level.
