Rangers £75m deal documents now under review as make-or-break AGM scheduled in June

Rangers will be waiting for brighter days at Ibrox under the ownership of the 49ers Enterprises, though they may have to wait until June to discover their fate.

Rangers are still in with a chance of Europa League success if they can find a route past Bilbao, though a failure to do that would see the season end without anything to show for it.

Domestically, the Light Blues have failed to compete, and much of that is down to the decision-making at board level matched with the lacklustre examples of recruitment that have marred Ibrox over the past few seasons.

The Rangers faithful will be hoping that changes if the 49ers are successful in their takeover, though developments elsewhere will have their say in that.

Leeds United failure could impact Rangers takeover

Paraag Marathe is one of those involved in the talks to take control of Rangers, but those attempts have hit somewhat of a barrier.

EFL restrictions prevent dual-ownership, and with the 49ers currently involved with Leeds United, their drop in form has sounded the alarm bells at Ibrox.

Leeds United are no longer in the automatic promotion places.

If the Whites are successful in their promotion bid, those concerns will diminish, but until then, they are certainly present, with an AGM meeting scheduled for June where EFL bosses could vote to relax those restrictions in terms of ownership.

After it was revealed that the Rangers takeover could cost the prospective new owners around £75million to acquire a 51 per cent stake, legal papers have been submitted in an attempt to rectify the issue preventing the deal from going through with the documents currently under review.

Quite frankly, that meeting in June could make or break that deal at Ibrox.

Rangers will be praying for Leeds success

If Leeds can get promoted, the deal should proceed with little to no complications.

If that is to be the case, it could be the start of a successful period for Rangers as they look to put the recent past behind them.

Celtic have dominated Scottish football recently, and this takeover could be what the Light Blues need to get back to competing at the top.
