Rangers v Hibernian: Huge Vaclav Cerny update emerges

Rangers take on Hibernian in the SPFL at Ibrox, with Barry Ferguson hoping to secure a home win.

The 55-time champions are once again expected to finish behind rivals Celtic, as the gulf in points is too huge to clear at this stage.

Ahead of the Hibs clash, the Hoops find themselves 13 points clear of their cross-town rivals after 31 games played.

Vaclav Cerny unlikely to be risked by Ferguson

Ferguson is not expected to risk Vaclav Cerny for the game against Hibs on 5 April.

Despite the Europa League clash on the horizon in mid-week, the interim boss is expected to play a strong team at Ibrox.

Cerny has done an incredible job at Gers since his loan move from Wolfsburg and has hit the ground running in Glasgow.

Vaclav Cerny for Rangers this season

He’s been a mainstay on the right wing for the Ibrox outfit and fans certainly would like him staying in Scotland beyond the summer.

Journalist Blair Malloy told PLZ Soccer: “As for team news, Vaclav Cerny looks unlikely to be risked this afternoon for Rangers with that Athletic Club clash on the horizon.”

Rangers need Cerny for the Europa League run in

Cerny has been quality for Gers this season and with the Europa League the only trophy left to fight for, it makes sense to have their best players available for that one.

Ferguson will increase his chances of securing the job permanently if he does guide Rangers to a European trophy.

It remains to be seen if the Czech Republic international is to be rested for this game, as playing him increases the risk of injury and fatigue.

Hopefully, he does not suffer any issues and he’s good to go for the Europa League clash as well if he does play.

Ferguson may look to bring him off after 60 minutes or so as it’s evident which game is more important.
