Barry Ferguson goes mad at Jefte for what Rangers star did v Hibernian

Barry Ferguson was less than impressed with Jefte as Rangers fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Hibernian.

Rangers have little left to play for this season, aside from the Europa League, though the need for strong performances and momentum is still as important as ever.

However, a 2-0 defeat at home to Hibernian brought neither of those, with the visitors having to do very little to secure all three points at Ibrox.

Jack Butland’s error proved to be costly for the Light Blues, but it appeared to be Jefte that Ferguson was frustrated with after an incident in the first half.

Jefte struggles for Rangers against Hibernian

Jefte has failed to impress for Rangers for a while now, leaving questions as to how he keeps finding his way into the starting 11.

It was no different for the Brazilian at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon, with his woeful crossing attempts serving as a showcase for his lacklustre performance, which left Ferguson angered.

Rangers dominated Hibernian, but failed to make it count.

At 1-0 down, Jefte refused to show for the ball, and according to Ian McCall, Ferguson was furious at him.

Speaking via BBC Radio Scotland Extra (5 April, 3:48pm), he said: “Barry Ferguson is going mad, but Jefte is on all the time. He’s not taking up a high enough position. He’s standing 10 yards back from where he should be.

“Looks like he doesn’t want the ball. I’m probably wrong about that, but that’s what it looked like.”

In reality, Ferguson will be angered at the performance of several of his players after what was a very, very poor display.

Rangers need to find consistency in their game

Consistency has been nonexistent for the Light Blues all season, which is one of the biggest reasons behind their failed campaign domestically.

Europa League success remains a possibility, but only if performances improve massively, and they are able to replicate them over 90 minutes.

Ferguson has a task on his hands to get Rangers geared up and ready to go for their Europa League encounter with Bilbao.
