Rangers told to think twice as ‘phenomenal’ Nico Raskin claim made

Nico Raskin has grown in stature during his time at Rangers, but that could ultimately have a down side.

The midfielder is now a starter for Belgium at senior level and has attracted plenty of transfer attention ahead of the summer window.

It is perhaps not surprising, then, that the Gers have been linked with numerous midfielders themselves to potentially plug the gap.

One such Rangers target is Motherwell ace Lennon Miller, who is said to be on the radar of other club, including fierce rivals Celtic.

Miller good enough to start for Rangers?

In the view of ex-Rangers defender Richard Foster, Miller is already good enough to be starting in the Gers’ midfielder above Raskin and Connor Barron.

However, player-turned-pundit Derek Ferguson disagrees with that stance and believes Raskin is a different level to Miller right now.

Raskin for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this season

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Ferguson said: “Raskin, since he started looking after himself, has been phenomenal.

It’s his drive, his ability on the ball – he’s above Miller. Barron is a totally different player to Miller. Miller wants to control a midfield, whereas Barron – and I’m not saying this in a bad way – he’s more of a dog who gets around the park, keeping it simple.

Miller could be ahead of Barron at this stage, but certainly not Raskin. I like Lennon and he’s a player who’s only going to get better, but at this moment he’s not ahead of Raskin.”

Rangers need to do everything to keep hold of Raskin

As ironic as it may be, Raskin may even be working as a secret agent of sorts for Rangers ahead of the summer transfer window.

If Raskin does depart, it goes without saying a replacement will be needed ASAP. Should the takeover go through on time, that will become slightly easier.

Hopefully, though, the Gers manage to persuade him to stay on for another year before potentially seeking pastures new for a hefty profit in 2026.

If that proves the case, it will prove to have been a hugely successful deal by the Light Blues.
