Rangers v Hibernian preview: Team news, predicted line-ups, head to head, prediction

Rangers will be vying to make it three Scottish Premiership wins in a row when they host Hibernian on Saturday, after they beat Dundee 4-3 last time out.

The Bears were seemingly in trouble when they trailed both 2-0 and 3-1 to Dundee, but late goals from James Tavernier, Tom Lawrence and Cyriel Dessers sealed a dramatic win for Barry Ferguson’s men.

The Light Blues’ win over Tony Docherty’s men marked their second consecutive victory after their 3-2 win in the Old Firm Derby clash with Celtic on Sunday 16 March.

A triumph over bitter rivals Celtic on away turf marked an outstanding moment in an otherwise tough campaign for Ferguson’s side, who still sit 13 points behind Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Rangers v Hibernian preview

Gers interim boss Ferguson could strengthen his chances of being handed a permanent contract at Ibrox if he leads his side to a third consecutive victory.

However, the Light Blues’ clash with Hibernian lands just five days before the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash with Spanish side Athletic Bilbao, which will be a more defining point in the Ibrox giants’ season.

But Ferguson will be eager to enjoy a win on home soil for the first time since taking the managerial reins at Rangers.

Meanwhile, Hibernian are in a rich vein of form after winning four of their last five Scottish Premiership games.

Rangers v Hibernian predicted lineups

Rangers: Butland, Sterling, Souttar, Propper, Tavernier, Raskin, Barron, Yilmaz, Diomande, Igamane, Dessers

Hibernian: Smith, Miller, Bushiri, Iredale, Cadden, Levitt, Obita, Triantis, Hoilett, Boyle, Bowie

Prediction: Rangers 3-1 Hibernian

Both the Light Blues and Hibernian head into their meeting at Ibrox in winning ways, but Ferguson’s men should be determined to win on home soil for the first time since the interim boss took charge.

The Bears should have enough quality at their disposal to defeat David Gray’s men fairly comfortably.
