Rabbi Matondo exit update emerges with Rangers now desperate
Rangers attacker Rabbi Matondo is currently spending the rest of the season out on loan at German club Hannover.
The 24-year-old has made seven league appearances in 2.Bundesliga this season and prior to that, played six times in the league for Gers.
It’s understood that Hannover have the option to buy the Wales international come the end of the season.

Ibrox outfit will be ‘desperate’ to part ways with Matondo
The Ibrox outfit will be “desperate” to cut ties with the tricky winger in this summer transfer window, according to the Daily Record.
However, it remains to be seen if Hannover do trigger the option to buy as he’s not featured regularly there either.
Rangers career stats | Rabbi Matondo |
Matches | 67 |
Goals | 8 |
Assists | 10 |
While he’s got seven league appearances under his belt this term, just two of them have been starts.
Thus far, they’ve shown no indications of being willing to sign him on a permanent basis in the coming months.
On the other hand, his days at Ibrox also seem numbered, despite there being another year left to run on his contract.

Rangers must actively look to market Matondo to drive up interest
Rangers must not offer Matondo further chances at Ibrox, as his performances have consistently fallen short of expectations.
Since joining in 2022, the 24-year-old winger has managed only eight goals in 67 appearances, mostly as a substitute, highlighting his inability to secure a regular starting role.
His loan spell at Hannover in the 2.Bundesliga has been equally underwhelming so it’s not like he’s managed to show his potential.
Matondo’s lack of impact, combined with his hefty wage, makes him a financial liability for a club needing to streamline its squad.
To facilitate his departure, Gers should actively market him in the summer transfer window, targeting clubs in lower-tier European leagues or the EFL Championship, where his pace might still attract interest.
Offering a modest transfer fee or even a loan-to-buy deal could entice potential suitors, allowing the Ibrox outfit to reinvest the funds into a more reliable attacking option to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
