Andrew Cavanagh and his American consortium are keen on finalising the Rangers takeover in the coming weeks.

It’s understood that the San Francisco 49ers, along with Cavenagh, will be buying a controlling stake in the Ibrox outfit, which will alter the current boardroom dynamics.

Dave King along with a few other shareholders, are understood to be open to selling a majority of their stake in the club.

Rangers takeover agreement may be legally approved before end of April

Daily Record reported on 31 Mach that a “complex” agreement regarding the takeover is likely to be legally approved before the end of April.

The red tape holding up the takeover is likely to be rubber-stamped come the end of April which could be around the time Patrick Stewart will be meeting the fans.

Once the takeover agreement for Gers is legally approved by the end of April, Cavenagh and his American consortium, led by 49ers Enterprises, will move swiftly to implement their vision for the club.

They will then formalise the new boardroom structure, with the consortium securing their 51 per cent controlling stake.

Stewart can then begin plans to bring in a sporting director

Stewart will then prioritise appointing a sporting director to oversee football operations, a process already underway.

The managerial position, currently held by interim boss Barry Ferguson, will also need resolution, with a permanent appointment expected before the 2025-26 season.

Cavenagh’s planned upgrades to the Auchenhowie training facility will likely kick off, aiming to modernise infrastructure and boost player development.

Additionally, fan engagement will be crucial and Stewart’s meeting with supporters around late April will set the tone for the new era, ensuring transparency and alignment with the fanbase as Rangers embark on this transformative chapter under American ownership.
