Rangers players to ‘throw Ferguson under the bus’ after recent developments
Barry Ferguson has somewhat steadied the ship since he arrived as interim manager at Rangers, taking the position of Philippe Clement.
During his tenure, the Gers have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, which is the only competition left to play for this term.
The Light Blues have also lost just one of their four Scottish Premiership games under Ferguson’s management, although there still remains 13 points between them and Celtic.

Ferguson set to be let down at Rangers
The sacking of Clement was a long time coming after a disastrous season left Rangers far away from where expectations would place them.
The arrival of Ferguson also seemed to come from a place of passion rather than football quality in the hope that he could raise standards by improving players’ attitudes.
With that in mind, the 47-year-old has surprised many, and there have been questions over whether Ferguson could be making a claim to take the role permanently.
That being said, although results look good on paper with three points being picked up, the Rangers squad are still creating more questions than answers.
Taking on 11th-placed Dundee on Saturday (29 March), they were behind by two goals twice before Cyriel Dessers eventually scored the winner, finishing 4-3 at Dens Park.

Scott McDermott has blasted the squad of players for their attitudes, writing in the Daily Record (1 April): “Ferguson wasn’t fooled – and neither should anyone else. Because there’s one thing you know for certain about this group of players.
“The minute you start to believe in them or think they’ve turned a corner, they will invariably let you down.
“As soon as you show confidence in them or feel they’ve cracked it, they’ll throw you under a bus soon enough.
“That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. It’s this Rangers team’s MO.”

49ers to change everything at Rangers
Although it was another victory for Rangers at the weekend, the performance does suggest that there is still plenty of work to be done at Ibrox.
Ferguson certainly deserves praise for his part to play in getting things to a better standard, but to appoint him permanently would be risky given his lack of experience at a similar level.
Furthermore, as pointed out by McDermott, the players in the current squad are unable to consistently perform at a high standard which is certainly not something you associate with a side that is going to be competing at the top level.
The 49ers Enterprises are looking to complete their takeover of Rangers, and if it goes through, it should be in place in time to prepare for next season.
With that in mind, and an increased budget to play with, you can imagine there will be plenty of change to come in Glasgow as the Light Blues prepare to look forward.
