49ers to ‘seal £5.5m transfer’ at Rangers already as no-brainer emerges

Rangers are set for a new era when the 49ers Enterprises group completes their takeover at Ibrox.

The Gers have been plagued by issues in the Ibrox boardroom in recent years, which has hampered their performances on the pitch.

The consortium led by Paraag Marathe and Andrew Cavenagh is expected to take over in Govan in the summer, and they will have a huge squad overhaul on their hands.

Rangers must sign Vaclav Cerny after clause reveal

Vaclav Cerny has been instrumental for Rangers this season.

The Czech international has notched 11 goals and two assists in 27 matches in the Scottish Premiership this season.

The Light Blues can reportedly sign Cerny permanently from Wolfsburg for a fee of £5.5million, but they have to trigger it before the end of May.

Michael Stewart and Alan Hutton agreed unanimously that the Gers must sign the 27-year-old if the reports about that clause is true.

Speaking on Premier Sports’ Scottish Football Social Club (31 March), host Darnell Currie raised the issue, saying: “If his value is soaring and it’s true and you can sell him for more, is it not a no brainer to buy him and sell him on if you need to?”

Stewart replied: “Absolutely.”

Hutton responded, saying: “That is what I would do.”

49ers have easy decision to make on Cerny

Cerny’s exploits for the Ibrox club this season mean that the 49ers have an easy decision to make on his future.

He has been a vital part of the small bit of success that the Gers have enjoyed since Barry Ferguson took over from the miserable reign of Philippe Clement.

Ferguson’s team are in the Europa League quarter-finals, and if they are to get past Athletic Bilbao, then the 27-year-old will play a significant role.

Considering the expectations surrounding the new ownership, it makes sense for them to strike a permanent deal for the loanee, as the failure to do so would signal a lack of ambition.

The Americans must make Cerny the first signing of the new era, the reported £5.5m fee is an absolute bargain after what he has done for the Auchenhowie outfit this season.

Then they have another decision, keep him around at Ibrox to improve the playing squad or sell him on and make a significant profit as his value is worth much more than the reported fee.
