Ridvan Yilmaz in ‘Absolute Shocker’ after scenes in Rangers win v Dundee

Rangers somehow defeated Dundee 4-3 on Saturday despite previously trailing by two goals twice against Tony Docherty’s men.

Goals from Simon Murray and Joe Shaughnessy saw the Bears fall to a 2-0 deficit in the first half before Dundee went 3-1 up through Scott Tiffoney just after the hour mark.

But James Tavernier, Tom Lawrence, and Cyriel Dessers were on hand to provide Barry Ferguson’s men with an entertaining comeback win.

The Gers have now managed two consecutive wins in the Scottish Premiership, after they also beat Celtic 3-2 on 16 March.

Tam McManus rages at Ridvan Yilmaz

The Bears were seemingly in for a tough night when they conceded two goals inside 20 minutes at Dundee, which attracted plenty of attention.

McManus picked out Yilmaz, who not only collapsed in defence, with his distribution completely unacceptable from the back at Dens Park.

Writing on X, he said: “Yilmaz is having an absolute shocker here.”

Rangers must maintain their positive momentum

Interim boss Ferguson has performed well with the managerial reins at Ibrox so far, which was displayed when he steered the Bears to the Europa League quarter-finals via a shootout win over Fenerbahce.

Ferguson has re-established a positive feeling at Ibrox, which had disappeared in former manager Philippe Clement’s stint in charge.

But since the 47-year-old has been in charge of Rangers, the Scottish Premiership giants are yet to win on home soil, which is something they can rectify next time out.

The Gers host Hibernian on Saturday, 5 April, and will hope they can win at Ibrox for the first time since their comprehensive 4-0 victory over Ross County on 2 February.

Under Ferguson’s tenure so far, the Bears have shown their nerve in a penalty shootout, won an Old Firm Derby, and produced a remarkable comeback to fend off Dundee.

Such exploits will boost his chances of becoming Rangers’ next permanent boss, but he must now make brutal decisions on the likes of Yilmaz, who could cost him.
