Derek Ferguson shares Barry Ferguson stance on permanent Rangers job

Rangers have a decision to make on the future of Barry Ferguson come the end of the season.

The former Gers captain arrived on an interim basis after the club sacked Philippe Clement and has done a good job so far.

He has masterminded his team to a win against Celtic at Parkhead and also guided them in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Ibrox stay is something Barry wants – Derek Ferguson

Barry’s brother, Derek Ferguson, is a media figure and has not shied away from talking about the Rangers interim manager.

Speaking on Open Goal on 28 March, Derek stated that his brother was looking to get this job full time even though Barry has always brushed away the question whenever asked it.

Derek believes that you can see it in his brother’s eyes that he fancies the job will time.

He said at 1:08:58: “He’s obviously looking at getting this full time. You can see it in his eyes. He fancies it.”

Si Ferry then joked: “You’ve told us off camera he’s got the job.”

Thus far, no decision has been made on the next permanent manager at Gers.

San Francisco 49ers will likely decide the new manager at Rangers

The San Francisco 49ers are in the midst of a takeover saga and that should be done within the next few weeks.

While they will be keeping tabs on the performances of Gers, they still cannot make any decision.

They would be in contact with the hierarchy but nobody at the club will be sanctioned to make the decision on Ferguson’s future.

There have been a number of managers linked with the job full time, including Frank Lampard and Rafa Benitez.

However, no decision has been made on them and talks are yet to happen – which is expected to happen only once the 49ers have taken over.

Thus far, Ferguson has done enough to make fans realise that he is a serious contender and that he can handle the pressure of managing a club as big as Rangers.

It remains to be seen if that’s what the American owners think as well.
