Nico Raskin new Rangers contract ‘ready’ after American takeover
Nico Raskin may be rewarded by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises once they complete their potential takeover of Rangers.
The 24-year-old signed for the Light Blues in January 2023 and will have two years left on his current deal next summer.
Raskin has been one of the best players at Ibrox this season and has stood out for the Gers during an underwhelming period.
The midfielder made his full international debut as Belgium beat Ukraine 3-0 in the Nations League on 23 March, catching many people’s attention.

Rangers might extend Raskin contract after Cavenagh and 49ers takeover
Rangers might extend Raskin’s contract after Cavenagh and the 49ers complete their takeover, Scott McDermott says.
The Daily Record journalist believes the US consortium could potentially look to secure the Belgian midfielder’s future once they arrive at Ibrox.
Competition (2024/25) | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Scottish Premiership | 26 | 1 | 5 |
Europa League | 10 | 1 | 1 |
Scottish Cup | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Scottish League Cup | 2 | 0 | 0 |
McDermott feels the Americans may want to tie the 24-year-old down to a new deal with only a couple of years remaining on his current contract.
The journalist wrote in the Daily Record (26 March): “Raskin has two years left on his current contract at Ibrox, but with new American owners coming in, they might already be looking at trying to extend that.”

Barry Ferguson will want Raskin continuity at Ibrox
Aston Villa and Leeds United want Raskin, and it isn’t surprising to see teams from down south express an interest in the Rangers midfielder [TEAMtalk].
The 24-year-old has also shown his quality for Belgium, which will unarguably increase his value in the eyes of potential suitors.
While the Gers won’t want to lose one of their best players in the upcoming transfer window, they would undoubtedly accept a hefty fee for the Belgian star.
Rangers have appointed Barry Ferguson as interim manager, and the former Scotland international has seemingly taken Raskin to the next level, as was seen against Celtic at Parkhead.
The Bears have relied on the Belgian ace in the engine room this season and will need to find his replacement if he leaves.
Connor Barron has shown glimpses of his potential this season but has been underwhelming in recent weeks.
The Glaswegian outfit have completed a deal for Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron and may feel they already have a Raskin replacement coming next summer.
Cavenagh and the 49ers should extend the Belgian midfielder’s contract, though, to protect his valuation.
