Czechia media stunned by what Vaclav Cerny just did away from Rangers

Vaclav Cerny got his name on the scoresheet for Czechia as the Rangers star helped his country beat Gibraltar 4-0 on Tuesday.

The Rangers man played for 79 minutes before being substituted, having opened the scoring in the 21st minute of the game.

Cerny also provided the assist for his side’s second goal in the 50th minute, earning him plaudits from local media in Czechia, after a strong start to World Cup Qualifying.

Cerny praised away from Ibrox

Cerny has had an excellent first season with Rangers after joining on loan in the summer, proving to be a rare shining light at Ibrox.

It has been a disastrous season for Rangers, although Barry Ferguson has shown signs that he can steady the ship between now and the end of the campaign.

With the Europa League the only thing left on the Gers’ minds now, there is one last opportunity for Rangers to impress, but standards will need to be high.

If Cerny can perform to the same level he showed for his international team on Tuesday, he could well be the man to make the difference in Light Blue.

ISport gave the winger a rating of eight out of 10, labelling him “the best and most active Czech.”

It was his assist that proved to be the moment that drew attention, as the outlet said: “He beautifully released Schick into the goal”, with his effort levels also being credited.

Sport CZ went even further in their praise of the Rangers man as they scored him a one out of five in a rating system where a lower number equates to a better performance.

According to the outlet, Cerny was “the most diligent and visible member of the national team’s offensive.”

Rangers have to sign Cerny permanently

Cerny certainly seemed to be the standout player for his national side on Tuesday, but this won’t come as a surprise to Rangers supporters who have been impressed with him throughout.

The 27-year-old has proved he can consistently deliver for the Scottish Premiership outfit, contributing goals regularly on loan from Wolfsburg.

As the takeover of the 49ers looms, Rangers look set to appoint a new manager at the end of the campaign, but Cerny has shown the reasons why he is worth being kept.

It has been reported that it would cost £6.75million to make Cerny’s loan move permanent in the summer transfer window, but if he keeps up his form, this seems like a no-brainer.

The Czech international is said to be keen on staying in Scotland too, meaning it shouldn’t be too hard to strike a deal at Ibrox.
