Barry Ferguson ‘deserves credit’ after £30m Rangers transfer claim

Barry Ferguson deserves credit for bringing the best out of Nico Raskin at Rangers after a £30million transfer claim.

Ferguson was appointed interim manager at Ibrox after Philippe Clement’s sacking and has managed to turn things around at the Gers.

The interim boss has potentially staked his claim to become the next permanent manager at the Light Blues, with the players seemingly embracing his ideas.

Raskin is one of the players who has certainly benefited from a change in manager, with Aston Villa and Leeds United eyeing his signature.

Rangers must credit Ferguson as £30m price tag suggested for Raskin

Rangers must credit Ferguson for Raskin’s performances in recent matches, Scott McDermott says.

The Scottish journalist believes the interim manager’s changes at the Glaswegian outfit have benefitted the Belgian midfielder.

When a Gers fan criticised the silence around the 24-year-old midfielder’s performances while Celtic players are usually rated at £30m for doing well, McDermott wasn’t sure about the price tag but agreed with the sentiment.

Speaking on Hotline Live, Daniel Caw said: “£30m for Raskin? Are you having that?

McDermott responded: “I don’t know about the £30m, but it’s a fair comment in terms of his current form. I think you need to put a lot of that down to Ferguson in the difference he’s made in the last few games.”

Raskin the next big thing at Ibrox after Belgium debut

Raskin impressed on the international stage as the Rangers midfielder started for Belgium in their 3-0 win over Ukraine in the Nations League on 23 March.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form recently, scoring and assisting as the Gers beat Celtic 3-2 at Parkhead.

While the Light Blues have endured an abysmal domestic campaign, certain players, including the Belgian midfielder, have stood out.

Raskin has become essential at Rangers, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the US consortium make him a lynchpin of their project once they complete their takeover at Ibrox.

The Bears are potentially on course to start a new era, which could see them compete with Celtic once more in the Scottish Premiership.

If Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises hope to return the Glaswegian outfit back to the top, they will need to rely on players like Raskin.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the 24-year-old move to one of the top teams for a significant fee in the coming years.

Rangers fans will hope for exciting times ahead with the Belgian in their engine room.
