Nico Raskin transfer: Clubs to ‘look at’ Rangers star amid Ibrox discussions

Nicolas Raskin is primed to be the subject of transfer interest this summer after impressing for Rangers and Belgium.

Raskin has grown in stature since joining Rangers from Standard Liege in January 2023, making 86 appearances across all competitions.

The midfielder’s recent appearances for the Ibrox outfit saw him earn a call-up to the Belgium national team, making his full debut in their 3-0 UEFA Nations League win against Ukraine on Sunday, 23 March.

Raskin hardly put a foot wrong and was, therefore, the subject of plaudits from fans and media in Belgium.

Roger Hannah speculates Raskin transfer

Raskin’s performance for the Red Devils also did not go unnoticed in Scotland as Roger Hannah claimed that it would have catapulted his reputation to a “different stratosphere”.

The Scottish Sun journalist believes it is only a matter of time before clubs across Europe are looking into the possibility of roping the 24-year-old in from Rangers.

He added that the Light Blues would not be too disappointed about selling Raskin either as they have been wanting to solidify a sustainable player trading model for a while.

“If you’re a young continental international at Celtic or Rangers, your ambition is to go a bigger league”, Hannah said on the Scottish Sun’s Go Ballistic show (24 March).

“He’s done everything he could to enhance his own reputation, his own standing in the game by playing well for Rangers.

“Last night will have put him into a different stratosphere. I think people around the continent will look at him.

“It’s good news for him, potentially good news for Rangers. They want to get into this player trading model that the current board keep discussing.

“If you’re looking for young up-and-coming players to sell, then the guy who bosses the midfield for Belgium… that’s what you want to get.”

Rangers to cash in on Raskin

Rangers have struggled to sell players for significant transfer fees in recent years, let alone for hefty profits, with the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent departing on free transfers.

The Ibrox bosses are determined to ensure they do not repeat those mistakes and that is why it would not be a surprise if they cashed in on Raskin if they received a good offer this summer.

As Hannah said, the Belgium international will also be aspiring to play in one of the top five leagues as he enters the peak years of his career.

It is worth noting that the Gers forked out around £2million to sign him from Standard Liege in 2023.

Rangers are certain to make a hefty profit on that amount in this instance.
