Rangers ace Vaclav Cerny dubbed ‘average’ in 5/10 international display
Rangers star Vaclav Cerny has been the subject of intense media focus this week, but his attentions have since turned to the Czechia national team.
Cerny has performed superbly for Rangers this season after joining on loan from Wolfsburg, but the recent Old Firm victory was a controversial one for him.
The Rangers winger missed a huge chance in the first half and was spotted squirting water at Celtic supporters, but his side secured an excellent victory just before the International break.
Cerny started in Czechia’s 2-1 victory over the Faroe Islands in a World Cup Qualifier, but he failed to impress, and the 27-year-old earned negative reviews for his performance.

Vaclav Cerny criticised despite Czechia victory
Two goals from Bayer Leverkusen star Patrick Schick secured victory for Czechia, but it was an underwhelming performance as a whole, and Cerny has now been criticised for his display.
Czech outlet iSport gave Cerny a match rating of 5/10, and highlighted his poor attacking performance.
“The danger level: average and certainly lower than usual in Scotland. Although he was more involved in the game compared to Sulc,” they stated of Cerny’s display.

“He got to the crosses and shot after Soucek’s pass, which the goalkeeper deflected.
“Vaclav Cerny wasn’t too dangerous.”
Sport.cz was more forgiving of Cerny, giving him a 2/5 match rating (with the lower number equating to a higher rating), and described his display as “active”.

Rangers should keep Vaclav Cerny
Cerny has arguably been Rangers’ best players this season and has scored 17 goals across all competitions. With a new manager set to join in the summer, having a reliable goalscorer in the squad will be of huge benefit.
It will seemingly cost £6.75m to make his loan move permanent, and if he continues to keep up his goalscoring form, this would prove to be an excellent transfer for Rangers.
Cerny is reportedly keen on staying in Scotland, and remaining at Ibrox is clearly a desire of his as he has found his form after a difficult spell at Wolfsburg.
It remains to be seen what kind of spending power Rangers will have this summer, but keeping the Czech attacker should be made a priority when it comes to the transfer plans at the end of the season, as the Gers aim to recover from a disappointing domestic campaign.
