Police Scotland told to stop wasting tax payers’ money amid Rangers investigation
Rangers and Celtic clashes often tend to dominate headlines way beyond the day of the game itself, which has been no different after this latest instalment.
Barry Ferguson guided Rangers to a memorable 3-2 win at Celtic Park last Sunday (16 March), fresh on the back of overcoming Fenerbahce on penalties in the Europa League last 16.
A number of big talking points emerged out of the game, both in terms of events on the pitch and off it.

Vaclav Cerny in trouble for Celtic Park antics
A week on from the match and Cerny’s antics at Celtic Park, in which he sprayed some water in the direction of home fans, is still being discussed.
There has been talk of Cerny potentially facing an eight-game ban at Rangers, while Police Scotland have also launched an investigation into the matter.
However, pundit Derek Ferguson cannot believe such a trivial matter has managed to escalate as far as it has.
“Fans must get it. You’re playing in a fixture such as the Old Firm and the emotions going through your body means you don’t think,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“It’s water. He’s spraying water and not actively thinking about who he’s going to drench. Come on, get real. I’d be so disappointed if he was to get a ban.

“You have to understand that the crowd that afternoon, the players were getting pelters from minute one. From the footage you can see that Barry [Ferguson] was getting hit with missiles as well.
“Nonsense always goes on in this fixture. So I think give him a wrap around the knuckle, tell him not to do it again, and move on.
“Hopefully common sense prevails. Don’t waste our tax money on a police investigation. It’s absolutely stupid. Hopefully the bigwigs at the SFA give him a warning.”

Cerny must learn lessons from Old Firm
As Ferguson says, there is no reason why the matter has spiralled this far. For the police to look into the matter is pretty laughable.
At the same time, Cerny must also learn that he did create a potential spark point. Old Firms are often close to boiling over and that could have started something nasty.
The point is, though, that it didn’t. Hopefully the authorities take that into account and Cerny escapes with little more than a telling off.
