Rangers bank millions after new developments at Ibrox, could earn another £14m

Rangers are daring to dream in the Europa League with Barry Ferguson looking to mastermind another trip to a major final.

The Bears famously reached the final of the same competition in Seville back in 2022, but lost on penalties against Eintracht Frankfurt in gutting fashion.

Ferguson has got past Fenerbahce to set up a quarter-final tie against Athletic Bilbao this time around, with the final in the same venue at the end of May.

Rangers bank millions already at Ibrox

Dan Plumley has shared the monetary rewards on offer for Rangers, who banked another £2.1million for beating Fenerbahce and reaching the quarter-finals again.

The football finance expert revealed that lifting the silverware this time around would hand the Ibrox giants just over £14million, in what would be a huge boost ahead of a possible takeover.

“They’ve got £2.1m for getting to the quarter-finals,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“That’s a good tick in the box and will add to the pot they’ve already got from group stages and win bonuses.

There is TV money to come; we’ve not seen the full figure from that, but it will contribute a decent amount.

If you can push that a little bit further and dare to dream, semi-final qualification is worth another £3.5m, it’s £5.8m if you can get to the final, and another £5m if you win it.

Wouldn’t it be great for Rangers if they could do that? If they can get all the way and win it, you’re adding another £14.3m to the pot instantly in prize money. It’s great on the pitch, as well, but it does come with a good little bonus as well.”

Jack Butland plays huge Rangers role

It was the English number one who stepped up when needed against Fenerbahce, saving two penalties to secure safe passage through.

After a massive 3-1 win in Turkiye in the opening leg, nerves were everywhere after a 2-0 defeat in normal time at Ibrox, before the scenes on penalties.

Despite being dominated in the second leg, Rangers got the job nearly done in the opening showdown.

With Bilbao to come over two legs next, anything is possible with some huge teams still left in the Europa League, with big cash on the line.
