Ally McCoist in hysterics at what happened in Rangers win v Celtic

Rangers secured a massive three points away to Celtic in the latest Old Firm derby.

It has certainly been a campaign to forget for Rangers, especially domestically, but their 3-2 victory away to Celtic brought some optimism to supporters.

Celtic were rattled by the early performance of the Light Blues, with Hamza Igamane’s strike securing the three points towards the latter stages of the game.

However, it wasn’t the goals that caught the attention of Ally McCoist; instead, it was an incident while the ball was not in play.

Vaclav Cerny involved in off the ball incident

Vaclav Cerny should have scored in the game after a moment of complacency from Kasper Schmeichel, though it wasn’t to be. However, his performance was still crucial to Rangers getting all three points.

With that said, the Czech international made the headlines anyway, with his reaction to Igamane’s goal certainly not going unnoticed.

Rangers were in delirium, and just as the camera panned towards Barry Ferguson, Cerny was seen sprinting towards the Celtic bench, before spraying them with water, in an incident that McCoist certainly saw the funny side of.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (17 March, 6:26 am), he said: “What about Cerny? I thought you were gonna dig me up and swallow me. I shouldn’t laugh. It was the ultimate housery. Then he went back into the dugout, and he’s waving at them.”

Rangers will be frustrated despite Celtic triumph

Their win at Celtic Park was certainly warranted, but there will be an air of frustration to take back to Ibrox because of their performance.

Usually, that frustration would be because they failed to perform, but it was far from the case. It was one of their best performances of the season, and it begs the question as to where that has been throughout the campaign.

Had that display been replicated earlier, Rangers would not be 13 points behind The Bhoys, but a lack of consistency means that they are.

However, the situation is how it is, and the Ligth Blues now have very little to focus on other than success in the Europa League.
