Rangers given ‘tough’ verdict live on talkSPORT after what Celtic have done

Rangers could potentially be in for a tough Old Firm derby after what Tony Cascarnio has seen from Celtic at Parkhead.

Celtic Park will host Barry Ferguson’s team on Sunday (16 March) as the visitors sit 16 points behind their rivals in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers are coming off a draining Europa League last-16 tie at Ibrox against Fenerbahce that saw them advance to the quarter-finals after winning on penalties.

Brendan Rodgers’ team have been dominant domestically this season, and their record at home seemingly doesn’t bode well for the Light Blues.

Celtic record at Parkhead shared ahead of Rangers clash

Cascarino believes the Bears have a challenging task at hand after looking at Celtic’s record at home.

The talkSPORT pundit mentioned the Hoops’ record live on air, with Rodgers’ team unbeaten at Parkhead this season, having scored 58 goals and conceded just three.

Cascarino has predicted a tough outing for the Gers on Sunday, considering how good the hosts have been this season.

Speaking on talkSPORT (16 March, 9:07), the former Ireland international said: “Celtic haven’t lost at home. Scored 58 goals at home, three against at Parkhead. Tough one [for Rangers].”

Ferguson needs to pull off Parkhead miracle

Ferguson will be hoping to pull off a miracle at Parkhead, with a victory strengthening his claim for the hot seat at Ibrox.

After Philippe Clement was sacked, the Gers icon was appointed interim manager and has seen his team be defensively frail in his first four games in charge.

While the Light Blues managed to get past Jose Mourinho’s team, they were 2-0 down in the second leg before the tie went to extra-time and, subsequently, penalties.

The Bears beat Celtic at Ibrox in January, but the Hoops had been unbeaten in the previous seven Old Firm derbies, showcasing just how challenging the game at Parkhead will be for Ferguson.

As things stand, the Gers evidently have nothing left to play for domestically, but their pride will be on the line against their arch-rivals.

The Bhoys need a few more wins to secure the Scottish Premiership title, and the Light Blues must do everything they can to delay that outcome.

With away supporters set to travel to Parkhead, the Light Blues need to perform at their very best despite the seemingly impossible task at hand.
