Chris Sutton takes swipe at Rangers in Old Firm prediction
Rangers have struggled for form in recent years against Celtic in the Old Firm derby.
The Gers are preparing to face their biggest rivals on Sunday (16 March) at Celtic Park as they look to win their first derby win away from home since 2017.
Barry Ferguson will be hoping that his side can use the euphoria of a penalty shootout win against Fenerbahce to spur them on at Parkhead.
With that being said, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has offered his prediction for the clash, taking a swipe at the Light Blues in the process.

Sutton backs Celtic to win Old Firm clash
The Gers have had less than an ideal campaign in the Scottish Premiership, summed up by the sacking of Philippe Clement.
Even if the Belgian did struggle at Ibrox, he still managed to secure a 3-0 win over Brendan Rodgers back in January, one of the high points of his reign.
Goals from Danilo, Ianis Hagi and Robin Propper proved to be the difference last time out but it is a whole different game when playing at Celtic Park.
Away fans will be in attendance at Parkhead for the first time in many years and will certainly be hoping for a memorable performance.
Despite this, Sutton has backed his side to take all three points from the derby in spectacular fashion in a tongue and cheek jibe at the Gers.
Speaking live on Sky Sports News (16 March, 10:33am), he said: “I’d do 8-0 to Celtic. That’s my first half prediction and I’ll tell you my second half prediction later.”
Rangers have uphill battle v Celtic
The Light Blues are coming off the back of a huge win in the Europa League at Ibrox but did play for 120 minutes plus penalties in midweek.
Against Jose Mourinho’s side, the Govan club did struggle at times but ultimately did what was required of them and celebrated in excellent fashion.
The tiredness of the back of this result may seep in against Celtic and hand the Hoops yet another win in the derby.
02/01/25 | Premiership | Rangers | 3-0 | Celtic |
15/12/24 | League Cup | Celtic | 3-3 | Rangers |
01/09/24 | Premiership | Celtic | 3-0 | Rangers |
25/05/24 | Scottish Cup | Celtic | 1-0 | Rangers |
11/05/24 | Premiership | Celtic | 2-1 | Rangers |
It will certainly be interesting to see if Ferguson can get the best out of his side and forge a rare positive result away at Parkhead.
