Chris Sutton blown away by ‘phenomenal’ moment in Rangers win v Celtic

Chris Sutton was left stunned as Rangers secured a famous three points against Celtic on Sunday.

The Gers rocked up to Parkhead on 16 March and came away with a second Old Firm victory on the bounce.

Barry Ferguson saw his side go 2-0 up within 37 minutes at Celtic Park thanks to goals from Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande.

Although the Hoops levelled the scoreline in the second half, the Light Blues still took the win and left Sutton shellshocked.

Sutton blown away by Hamza Igamane strike v Celtic

As excellent as it was to go two goals up against Brendan Rodgers’ side, it was extremely disappointing to be pegged back to easily.

If the first half performance was superb, the second 45 was frustrating as the league leaders continued to grow into the game.

Reo Hatate scored the equaliser but it is safe to say that the Gers didn’t let it affect them as Igamane smashed home the winner.

The Moroccan managed to keep the ball on the edge of the box before slamming the ball into the top corner of Kasper Schmeichel’s goal right in front of the travelling supporters.

The goal was so excellent that even Sutton was able to appreciate the quality, even with his Celtic-tinted glasses on.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Football (16 March, 02:18pm), he said: “That ball stays hit, it’s a phenomenal strike. Johnston stumbles, Igamane didn’t stumble. Wallop. It’s a stunning finish it really is.”

Igamane stuns Celtic with Rangers strike

The Moroccan has been one of the bright sparks for the Light Blues this season regardless of any struggles.

Under Philippe Clement, the 22-year-old was arguably the best player in the squad alongside Vaclav Cerny who helped to keep the Belgian in his job.

Igamane went and proved his worth for the Govan club once again on Sunday (16 March), netting a worldie into the top corner.

The Gers looked to be down and out when the Hoops got back on level terms and the energy drained out of Cyriel Dessers up top.

Ferguson made the change to bring the former FAR Rabat man on in what now represents a masterstroke from the interim head coach.

If even Sutton can be left blown away and in complete awe of a strike from a Rangers player, you know just how good it must have been.
